Some twenty-two assembly members of Bosome Freho in the Ashanti Region are calling for the head of the District Chief Executive, Yaw Danso. They say they want him removed from office as soon as possible.
The members are accusing the DCE of instigating divisions, abuse of office and hoarding resources meant for the assemblymen.
Speaking on the Orange Sunrise, one of the assembly members, Michael Boakye DeGraft said the DCE, Yaw Danso, is not receptive to concerns from residents in Bosome Freho District regarding developments they are in need of.
“He does not listen to us anytime we talk about developments in the district. He will sack us. We all know Bosome Freho is one of the under-developed districts in the Ashanti Region now.”
Mr Boakye DeGraft added that “all the 22 -assemblymen have signed a resolution to pass a vote of no confidence in him. Before then we wanted to have a fair hearing….we brought all our concerns together and reported to our Presiding Member who is heading our committee to be given to the DCE. He sent our resolution to him and after that, he replied to us that he can’t meet with us because he is unavailable.”
“We think he has disrespected the committee and our next line of action is that we are going to table in our resolution to pass a vote of no confidence in him this week, hopefully.”
Touching on the DCE, hoarding resources meant for the assembly, Maxwell Boakye DeGraft explained that, “if he’s [DCE] given x number of motorbicycles to share, he only gives them to his people; he does not share them equitably. He is also depriving our electorates of street bulbs. This isn’t a personal issue. We all deserve development”, he added.
Meanwhile, a group of Concerned Assembly Members in the Bosome Freho District, is contesting a move by some members of the assembly to pass a vote of no confidence in their District Chief Executive, Yaw Danso.
The group said accusations levelled against Yaw Danso by their colleagues are untrue.
The Assembly Members who have begun the vote of no confidence processes against the DCE have accused him of causing divisions within them, keeping motorbikes meant for them, and inciting community members against them.
But in an interview, Samuel Acheampong one of the opposing assembly members who represent the Adeito Electoral Area said the move by his colleagues would create confusion in the area.
“The motorbikes were commissioned immediately after the election of the Presiding Member. This was sponsored by the Presiding Member and I have even gone for mine. There is an official communiqué to all assembly members, calling them to come for their motorbikes. We want the party in Bosome Freho to be united, so we are signalling all political parties in the assembly to take themselves out of the issues in the constituency.”
