Assembly members in the Adansi South District in the New Edubiase constituency of Ashanti Region, yesterday September 28, 2021, endorsed the District Chief Executive nominee, Hon Francis Ankomah.
The District Chief Nominee pulled 100% vote by over 40 assembly members across the District.
Addressing the media, Hon Francis Ankomah expressed his warmest appreciation to the president, Nana Addo Dankwaa Akufo Addo for nominating him as the chief executive, “my sincere appreciation to the president for entrusting confidence in me. The vision of the president is to transform Ghana beyond aid, and we can only achieve this goal by strengthening the local government and to ensure that the local governance system is properly structured.’’
He continued to thank the regional minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah, assembly members, and the chiefs of Adansi South District for their support, “I thank you for your support and the weight thrown behind me, what has happened today depicts the good work I did over the last 4 years. As humans, we all fall short but going forward every mistake I did in my previous administration, I will ensure they are rectified for the growth of our District.”
The member of parliament for the New Edubiase constituency, Hon Abdul Salam Adams added that, although the appointment of MMDCEs was delayed it was a result of the chunk of applicants.
He further stated that president Akuffo Addo leveraged the competencies of the applicants in nominating them. “His excellency the president, Nana Addo Dankwaa Akuffo Addo through the appointment committee of parliament investigated applicants before bringing out the final list, and I am much confident that all 262 MMDCEs nominated are fit for purpose and will deliver as expected.’’
He entreated Hon Francis Ankomah, DCE for the area to work assiduously with assembly members to ensure the growth and development of the District.
President Akuffo Addo on Sunday, September 19, 2021, through the local government minister, Hon Dan Botwe released the list of 262 appointed MMDCEs to serve the purpose at the local government level.
